The annual patent law update will focus on recent changes to the Court’s Patent Local Rules, with an emphasis on the addition of damages contentions and related considerations, with unique perspectives from patent law experts, each of whom brings a special expertise to this program.

THE DISTINGUISHED PANEL INCLUDES:

Senior District Judge Susan Illston was appointed to the US District Court for N.CA. by President William J. Clinton and confirmed by the Senate on May 25, 1995. Prior to joining the Court, she practiced law in Burlingame, CA., after earning her BA at Duke University and her JD at Stanford Law School.

Renny Hwang, Director and Head of Patent Litigation, Google Inc., focuses on IP, including patent, copyright and open source issues. He earned a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Engineering Management from Stanford and a JD from Harvard Law.

Sonal Mehta, Partner, Durie Tangri LLP (Moderator), litigates high-stakes patent and technology disputes on behalf of clients ranging from startups to the Fortune 50, across a wide-range of industries. Sonal also teaches Patent Litigation at her alma mater, UC Berkeley School of Law.

Will Nelson, Partner, Tensegrity Law Group, represents major technology clients in a comprehensive range of legal issues, impacting an equally comprehensive range of technologies. He earned a BA from Riverside and a JD from Berkeley.

Keith Ugone, Managing Principal, Analysis Group, Inc. specializes in applying economic principles to complex business disputes, having testified at trial and in deposition over 400 times. He earned a BA in Economics at the U. of Notre Dame, an MA at USC, and a PhD from Arizona State.
