Who We Are
The Northern District of California Federal Practice Program was created by judges and practicing attorneys who are members of the Court’s Bar. The Program provides a forum for the Court’s judges and civil and criminal practitioners to learn together and share ideas, with the goal of enhancing the administration of justice in the Northern District. The mission of the Federal Practice Program is to build and strengthen these important professional relationships, and to provide opportunities for members of the Bench and Bar to learn from one other. To that end, the Program offers several continuing legal education programs each year on a variety of topics and practice areas.
The Federal Practice Program is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors composed of the Court’s judges and practicing attorneys representing a broad cross-section of the Bar. The Board endeavors to present several programs each year that address new and important developments in the law and provide practical guidance and skill-building activities. The programs are offered in a variety of formats from informal lunchtime settings to afternoon symposia that address several related topics. The programs offer MCLE credit and are offered at no cost or for a nominal fee.
The Northern District of California Federal Practice Program is a not-for-profit corporation that is entirely separate from, and independent of, the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
The programs offer MCLE credit and are generally inexpensive or free.
