This year’s Civil Symposium takes a wide ranging look at civil justice issues facing our courts, including the role of the Asian American community in civil rights litigation, ADA litigation, the waiver of intellectual property rights during the COVID-19 pandemic, mask and vaccine mandates during the pandemic, and qualified immunity. The symposium also features a mock argument involving high school students and a conversation between retired Judge and former Stanford Law School Assistant Dean LaDoris Cordell and Judge Haywood Gilliam about her new book–Her Honor:  My Life on the Bench . . . What Works, What’s Broken, and How to Change It.
